In Rome was signed a Cooperation Memorandum

On the invitation of the director of ANAS, the Italian roads fund, a delegation from the Fund for national and regional roads was on the two-day working visit in Rome, Italy. The goal of the visit was signing of the Cooperation Memorandum between the Macedonian and Italian road funds. Officially the Cooperation Memorandum was signed on 26.06.2007 in ANAS. The signers of the Memorandum, the director of the Fund for national and regional roads ms. Natasha Valkanovska and the director of ANAS mr. Stefano Grannati on the meeting discussed on several issues for the current condition of the road infrastructure as well as for the future plans and projects of the Fund for national and regional roads.
In accordance with the previous discussions main emphasize in the Cooperation Memorandum was given on the intensifying of the cooperation regarding the improvement of the road infrastructure as well as straightening of the economy cooperation. In this direction were précised several priority topics on which in the following period both sides will intensively work. On the meeting was discussed about the Corridor VIII and for its alternative solutions and the Fund for national and regional roads will submit a request to the Steering Committee of Corridor VIII for accelerating the completion of the second part of study performed by the International Working Group for development of the Corridor VIII. ANAS will support FNRR in request of grant from the Italian Cooperation relevant to the preparation of a feasibility study of Corridor VIII and its alternative solutions in the Republic of Macedonia. Also was agreed a training programme cooperation on managing and capacity building with assistance of ANAS in requesting grant from the Italian Cooperation. In the training programme will be included relevant personnel from FNRR. One of the topics on the meeting was regarding the managing of the roads and database of the road infrastructure. Regarding this during the following week ANAS will deliver to the FNRR a technical specification for the organization of the Road database System.
For realization of these and other activities were formed a working groups that in the following period will cooperate intensively.
